Abstract
The activity focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of Kosovo's agricultural products in both domestic and international markets. Key areas of focus include the development of value chains for fruits and vegetables, as well as the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices. The report highlights the progress made in the fruits value chain, with a focus on apples and pears, table grapes, industrial strawberries, raspberries, sour cherries, and blueberries. To address these issues, the activity implemented farmer training programs, infrastructure development, and market linkage facilitation. The report also discusses the progress made in the vegetables value chain, including peppers and tomatoes, gherkins and cucumbers, lettuce, asparagus, medicinal and aromatic plants, pumpkins, and dairy products. The activity implemented similar interventions, including farmer training programs and market linkage facilitation, resulting in improved yields and increased market access for farmers. In addition to value chain development, the report highlights the activity's efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices, including integrated pest management, good agricultural practices, and good manufacturing practices. The activity also worked to promote environmental compliance, gender, youth, and minority inclusion, as well as countering violent extremism. The report notes that the activity made significant progress in implementing its performance monitoring plan, with indicators tracking progress in value chain development, farmer training, and market linkage facilitation. The activity also reported on its grants and subcontractors, highlighting the progress made in implementing its scope of work. The report concludes that the AGRO activity has made significant progress in improving the competitiveness of Kosovo's agricultural products and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The activity's focus on value chain development, farmer training, and market linkage facilitation has resulted in improved yields and increased market access for farmers. The activity's efforts to promote environmental compliance, gender, youth, and minority inclusion, as well as countering violent extremism, have also contributed to its success. The report highlights the importance of continued support for the AGRO activity, with a focus on sustaining the momentum gained in the first year. The activity's progress in implementing its performance monitoring plan and tracking progress against its indicators demonstrates its commitment to transparency and accountability. The report concludes that the AGRO activity is well-positioned to continue making significant contributions to Kosovo's agricultural sector in the years to come.
