Abstract
Includes country overviews (for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Jamaica, Mexico, and Venezuela), extensive discussion of the role of foreign investment in privatization, and separate papers focusing on the privatization of telecommunications, electric power, oil and natural gas, and tourism and air transportation. The current trend towards a smaller state role in the economy augers well for greater prosperity and improved government services throughout Latin America.
