Abstract
(DAI). The program aims to improve water services for all in Lebanon by providing technical assistance and related services to the Ministry of Energy and Water (MOEW) and the four Water Establishments (WEs) in the country. The program focuses on building management capacity, increasing financial management capacity, procuring equipment, business planning, funding urgent infrastructure works, and developing a corporate culture and customer service orientation. The LWWSS program works in cooperation with the MOEW to assist the WEs in strengthening their capacity to deliver high-quality and sustainable services. The program targets several areas of focus, including building management capacity, increasing financial management capacity, procuring equipment, business planning, funding urgent infrastructure works, and developing a corporate culture and customer service orientation. During the quarter from January to March 2012, the LWWSS program implemented several activities aimed at improving the capacity of the WEs. One of the notable activities was the training for Beka'a Water Utility staff, which instilled a new customer service culture. The training aimed to improve customer relations and service delivery, which is a key area of focus for the LWWSS program. The LWWSS program also upgraded the water analysis laboratories in South Lebanon, which is a critical component of the program's efforts to improve water quality and safety. The program celebrated World Water Day with schools in South Lebanon, which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and management. The program's progress during the quarter was also highlighted by the upgrade of the water analysis laboratories in South Lebanon. The laboratories were equipped with new equipment and staff received training on the use of the equipment, which will enable them to provide better water quality analysis and testing services. The LWWSS program also collaborated with donors and GOL officials during the quarter. The program worked closely with the MOEW and the WEs to ensure that the program's activities were aligned with the government's priorities and goals.
