Grant is provided under the Regional Environmental and Natural Resource Management Project (596015) to the Tropical Agricultural Research and Training Center (CATIE) to help the Central American Commission of the Environment and Development develop a tropical forestry action plan for Central America.

Abstract
The plan will cover the countries of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize and will focus on regional activities and strategies which support the implementation of individual country action plans. The plan will be developed in active collaboration with country leaders and a wide range of national and international institutions, and will be presented, upon completion, to the community of international donors to encourage them to direct their own programs according to the plan and to solicit funding for the plan"s priority actions. In addition to the regional plan, CATIE will publish project profiles, a forest bibliography of Central America, and the results of consultations with forestry experts.
