Grant is provided under Program Development and Support Project 5960000 in the Central American Region to the InterAmerican Institute for Agricultural Cooperation (IICA) to fund Stage I of a proposed project, "Mobilizing Agricultural Technology to Meet Central American Challenges."
1989

Abstract
Stage I will focus on the development of regional technology transfer strategies which can provide an overall framework within which national programs and projects can be tailored to local situations. Such strategies will: be farmer-oriented and client-specific, stress research-extension-farmer linkages, require both public and private sector involvement, and consider nontechnological as well as technological incentives, goals, and constraints. Outputs will include (1) five to seven commissioned papers, followed by (2) a one-week workshop to reach consensus on technology transfer strategies for the region and (3) production of a monograph defining this consensus. The entire project will be implemented in three semi-independent stages.
