Subproject (SP) to develop and maintain biochemical data base for all primates being tested under the A.I.D.
1987

Abstract
malaria vaccine program. The SP will be implemented by Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories. Amendment of 5/14/87 expands and accelerates SP efforts. The research plan will now include: (1) significantly more animal files for the advanced nonhuman primate trials for P. falciparum red blood cell (RBC) candidate vaccines; (2) up to 600 squirrel monkeys involved in advanced testing of P. vivax anti-sporozoite prototype vaccines and potentially anti-RBC products for P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae which were not previously included in the database but now are required to be by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA); (3) the integration of primate malaria studies for homologous challenge of either owl or squirrel monkeys with P. fragile, P. inui, P. cynomolgi, and/or P. knowlesi, again, not previously included in the data management set; and (4) the full integration of the 20-part RBC stage protocol data into the overall database for the FDA.
