Abstract
The interventions were informed by data gathered through a diagnostic study undertaken in North Eastern Province (Wajir and Mandera districts) and the Eastleigh area of Nairobi in 20047 and a baseline study in Wajir district in 20058. Both studies collected data through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with community and religious leaders, and with recently married and unmarried men and women. The diagnostic study also interviewed health providers, undertook an assessment of their clinics" readiness to offer safe motherhood and FGM/C-related services, and interviewed antenatal clients who had been cut.
