Mid-term evaluation of USAID"s counter-extremism programming in Africa
Based on a review of quantitative and qualitative information and data from the Trans-Sahara Counterterrorism Partnership (TSCTP), it can be concluded that USAID"s Niger, Chad and Mali programs have had some positive impact -- most strikingly on lower-level programmatic goals such as civic engagement and listenership for USAID-sponsored radio.

Abstract
Results on higher-level goals, measured through surveys on attitudes towards extremism, were also positive in the aggregate but less dramatic. Despite this empirical evidence of program impact, implementation of the TSTCP has coincided with a worsening of the terrorist threat in parts of the Sahel, indicating a continued need for counter-extremism programming.
