Abstract
The project is being implemented by Advanced Engineering Associates International, Inc. (AEAI) in collaboration with the Northern Power Company Limited (NPGCL). The project's objective is to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power station, which is a critical component of Pakistan's energy infrastructure. The project's progress is being monitored and reported on a monthly basis. As of May 2011, the rehabilitation work on the Boiler super heater tubes of Unit 1, 2, and 3 has been completed, resulting in a gain of 60 MW. The procurement of required items is accelerating, with 16 items in line for approval from the General Manager (Thermal) of NPGCL. The overall schedule for procurement and installation of equipment at NPGCL has slipped by 4-5 months, with the completion date now expected to be in November 2011. The project has made significant progress in terms of reimbursement, with a total of $4,464,500 having been submitted and reimbursed in GENCO's account. The first reimbursement of $167,616 was paid in February 2011, followed by a second reimbursement of $3,734,384 in March 2011, and a third reimbursement of $562,500 in April 2011. The project's implementation is being carried out in several lots, each with its own completion dates and remarks. Lot 1, for example, involves the rehabilitation of Boiler Super Heater Tubes to overcome failure of tubes Units 1, 2, and 3, with a completion date of October 31, 2011. Lot 2 involves the replacement of Cold layer element for RAH for units 2 and 3, with a completion date of September 30, 2011. Lot 3 involves the procurement of Air Pre-Heater Elements (Intermediate) 2 sets for Unit 4, with a completion date of August 31, 2011. The project's progress is being closely monitored, with regular meetings and site visits being conducted to ensure that the work is being carried out as per the schedule and specifications. The project's implementation is being carried out in collaboration with NPGCL, with the support of USAID and AEAI. The project's overall objective is to improve the efficiency and reliability of the Muzaffargarh Thermal Power Station, which is a critical component of Pakistan's energy infrastructure. The project's progress is being closely monitored, and regular reports are being submitted to USAID and NPGCL to ensure that the work is being carried out as per the schedule and specifications.
