MotherCare 1989-1993 : country project descriptions

This report provides a brief overview of 12 projects sponsored by MotherCare between 1990 and 1993, including long-term projects (in Indonesia, Uganda, Nigeria, Bolivia, and Guatemala), field projects (in Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Kenya), and applied research projects (in Ecuador and Indonesia).

Abstract

The projects focus on, inter alia, maternal and neonatal care, midwife training, iron folate tablet distribution, reproductive health, congenital syphilis prevention, and the kangaroo mother method for care of low birth weight infants. Objectives and methodologies, evaluation means and results (many are preliminary) are presented, along with a description of the settings and MotherCare"s recommendations.
