New land law for Guinea-Bissau : needs and opportunities
This report examines Guinea-Bissau"s land law in light of experiences with comparable legal models elsewhere in Africa, and suggests policy considerations and possible characteristics of a new law.

Abstract
Individual chapters: review the place of tabanca and ponta agriculture in agricultural strategies, examining the history of the discussion of the relative merits of the two sectors; examine the land law from a historical perspective; summarize the findings of fieldwork; review the experience of other African countries with similar legal models; and relate Guinea-Bissau"s experience to that more general experience and seek to draw lessons for a new land law.
