Newborn health interventions in Senegal: the early implementation phase

This document describes the implementation and initial results (improved process and program outcome indicators) of a package of essential newborn care in an early implementation site at Kebemer district, Senegal.

Abstract

The program relied on a holistic strategy targeting both the facility and community with links between the two and involving key partners at the national and regional level. The approach was found to aid in achieving results at the local site and also in garnering consensus for proceeding to scale.
