USAID. MISSION TO OMAN
Project to establish a U.S.-Oman Joint Commission for Economic and Technical Cooperation and to support economic development projects to be introduced by the Commission.
1980
Abstract
The Commission will operate under the joint authority of two co-chairpersons -- the U.S. Ambassador and the Undersecretary of the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Activities to be funded will be those with a high priority in the Omani 1981-85 development plan, those which are suited to U.S. technology or expertise, and those which best satisfy A.I.D. policy and project criteria. Potential subprojects will be in the areas of health, fisheries, agriculture, housing, and water. A general participant training program for academic and vocational training is also envisioned, as is a water recharge pilot program. FY 1980 funding will be used to provide: additional feasibility and design work for the water recharge project; initial funding for an umbrella development training project; consultant services for feasibility studies and project development and design assistance; and final design and initial construction financing for the water recharge pilot project.
