Abstract
One of the organization's priorities, as outlined in its 2014-2018 strategy, is the promotion and recognition of education and quality learning throughout life. This material was developed within the framework of the "Promoting the European Union in Schools of the Republic of Moldova" project. The National Youth Council of Moldova is located at 126 Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Street, office 40, MD-2012 Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. The organization can be contacted by phone or fax at (+373) 22 233088 / 22 235175 or by email at [email protected]. Additional information can be found on the organization's website at www.cntm.md. The material was made possible through the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The views expressed in the material belong to the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID or the United States Government. The Association Agreement with the European Union is an international agreement between the European Union (EU) and one of its non-member countries, in this case, the Republic of Moldova. The agreement will enable a deeper integration, both politically and economically, between the country and the EU. The agreement will bring about several benefits, including the adoption of best strategies and laws, economic development, higher quality and safer products and services, and more opportunities for youth. The Erasmus+ program is a European program that provides young people with the opportunity to study, engage in volunteer work, and participate in exchange programs within the European Union. During the academic exchange period, students receive financial and organizational support, and the results of their work are recognized both within Europe and at home. The European Volunteer Service allows young people to engage in volunteer work for a period of up to 12 months in another country, as part of an international project. The opportunities provided by Erasmus+ are free of charge. Additional information can be found at ec.europa.eu/programmes. The European Union for Youth in the Republic of Moldova highlights the importance of European symbols, including the EU flag, which represents not only the European Union but also the unity and identity of Europe in a broader sense. The 12 stars on the flag symbolize the ideals of unity, solidarity, and harmony between the peoples of Europe. The EU also emphasizes the importance of unity in diversity, which means that Europeans are united in their work for the benefit of peace and prosperity, and that the diversity of cultures, traditions, and languages in Europe is a positive factor for the continent. The euro is the single European currency, introduced in 1999. The graphical representation of the euro was inspired by the Greek letter epsilon, which symbolizes the connection between the cradle of civilizations and European democracy, as well as the first letter of the word "Europe". The Day of Europe is celebrated on May 9, which was established in 1985 to commemorate the day in 1950 when Robert Schuman, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, proposed that Germany and other countries contribute to the realization of "de facto solidarity" and lay the "concrete foundations of an indispensable European federation for the preservation of peace".
