Abstract
The U.S.National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) will implement the subproject. NIAID will provide a total of 15 person-months (pm) of overseas TA in areas including epidemiology research, sexually transmitted diseases, virology, clinical immunology, clinical investigation, drug and vaccine development, laboratory management, and research administration, as well as 56 pm of short-term training for developing country scientists at NIAID/National Institute of Health laboratories. Also, NIAID will participate, on an ad-hoc basis, in reviews of proposals for AIDS scientific and operations research, and will pay for shipping reference and reagent chemicals (which are themselves free of charge) to scientists overseas.
