Abstract
While the report does review the significant effect of local culture and economy on food loss, it is primarily concerned with the methodology of loss reduction, the technology of primary food processing and storage, the control of food pests, and the physiological deterioration of food. The report"s threefold strategy for reducing food loss includes the establishment of effective national committees to plan and implement conservation policies, the institution of conservation education programs at all levels of the postharvest food system, and an increase in basic and applied research activities.
