USAID. BUR. FOR LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN. REGIONAL OFC. FOR CENTRAL AMERICAN PROGRAMS (ROCAP)
Evaluates project to upgrade the food and nutrition planning capabilities of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
1979
Abstract
Evaluation, which consists solely of a PES facesheet, covers the period 8/78-10/79 and is based on an attached special evaluation (PD-AAG-337-C1). The project was found to be complying fully with the conditions set forth in the project agreement. The contracted evaluators recommended that the project be extended. In addition, they recommended that (1) technical assistance be provided in accordance with the degree of progress; (2) intensive training of human resources take place; and (3) baseline studies be completed. There should also be closer cooperation between the A.I.D. Regional Office for Central American Programs, the Institute of Nutrition of Central America, and the Missions of the area in order to maximize the project"s usefulness. Rather than extend the project, it has been decided to amend the project agreement to reflect some of the above recommendations; terminate the project in 5/81; and initiate a new project encompassing similar activities and recommendations.
