Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO BANGLADESH
Summarizes interim evaluation (XD-ABB-403-A) of a project to provide graduate education in the rural social sciences to participants from Bangladesh.
1990

Abstract
The evaluation covered the period through 4/87. The project is well managed and cost-effective and has made a significant contribution to Bangladesh"s agricultural development. However, more emphasis should be given to macroeconomic analysis of agriculture, to defining priority issues more clearly, and -- given the limited usefulness of Master"s degrees in the country"s government and educational institutions -- to providing Ph.D. fellowships. The project should also develop a network to link social scientists in different disciplines and institutions. Staff expansion is also required. An action decision is to fund a follow-on grant beginning 10/88.
