Abstract
Evaluation covers the period 6/77-7/79 and consists of a PES facesheet attached to a special evaluation (XD-AAJ-354-A); no methodology is stated. Facesheet notes that specific recommendations numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 (cf. below) of the special evaluation and the appropriate implementation actions were incorporated into the project"s second phase, and that the other recommendations were discussed with the Ministry of Health and relevant parties. The above-mentioned recommendations were that: (1) previously collected nutritional and biochemical information be made available as soon as possible for epidemiologic analysis; (2) the information obtained from the surveys be utilized to guide the staffing and supplying of drugs to health centers, dispensaries, and district hospitals; (3) eye surveys be extended to areas where blinding eye diseases are suspected in order to determine the nature, incidence, and exact geographic distribution of these diseases; (4) a practical and economic surveillance system be developed utilizing the services of a statistical assistant; (6) a study of carefully selected districts within the two Provinces be carried out to determine the best approach for integrating eye health services into an effective primary health care system. The first evaluation of the second phase of the project examines recommendations 2 and 3.
