Abstract
The bibliography covers all types of financial arrangements and institutional forms, whether formal or informal, and it includes materials about both lending and savings mobilization aspects of agribusiness financing. A broad definition of agribusiness is utilized, one that covers a variety of on-farm and off-farm enterprises ranging from backyard activities to multilateral firms. The annotations fall under 16 headings: (1) macroeconomic and financial policies; (2) agricultural productivity, risks, and infrastructure; (3) loan targeting and subsidies; (4) interest rates and transaction costs; (5) regulation/supervision of financial institutions; (6) access to financial services, financial dualism, and financial linkages; (7) the crucial role of savings mobilization and loan recovery; (8) collateral contract enforcement, and property rights; (9) the implications of informal finance; (10) special problems of term finance and development finance institutions; (11) cooperatives, self-help groups, and other semi-formal financing systems; (12) special programs for microenterprises and women; (13) the emerging importance of NGO"s and PVO"s; (14) lack of consensus among donors; (15) agribusiness development; (16) bibliographies.
