Abstract
The program's primary objective is to enroll 60 financially needy and academically qualified students across Lebanon, with a focus on gender diversity and academic excellence. The program's duration spans from October 2023 to September 2031, with an initial award of $30,000,000 and a cost-sharing amount of $6,210,000 from the Lebanese American University. The program's key achievements include the enrollment of 60 scholars in Fall 2023, with 20 scholars (33.33%) on the High Distinguished list, 10 scholars (16.67%) on the Distinguished list, and 11 scholars (18.33%) on the Honors list. The program's monitoring plan involves multiple stakeholders, including the Community, Service & Engagement Unit, student mentors, academic coordinators, and student support centers. The plan aims to ensure the scholars' academic standing and graduation. As of the end of Fall 2023, 49 scholars (81.67%) had a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, while 5 scholars (8.33%) had a cumulative GPA between 2.0 and 2.99. The program's progress reports for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 demonstrated that 58 scholars are performing well and progressing normally. However, two scholars dropped out by the end of Fall 2023. The program's focus on academic excellence and support for scholars is evident in its efforts to ensure their success.
