Abstract
Once completed, the flood protection wall will save 600 jeribs of farmlands from being flooded. The Ghazi Abad CDC completed 80% of work on a 220-meter canal lining project in Bala Boluk District, expected to provide water for 250 jeribs of farmlands. The Cheen Farsi CDC is rehabilitating the Khajah Abdullah Bidar High School in Pusht-E Rod, which will provide a better educational environment for 1,100 students once completed. The Naw Abad CDC completed 90% of work on a 220-meter flood protection wall in Muqur District, expected to save 480 houses and 48 jeribs of farmlands from being flooded. The Rashid Abad CDC successfully completed 70% of work on a 300-meter flood protection wall construction project in Rashid Abad Village, Bala Boluk District, expected to save 1,600 jeribs of farmlands from being flooded. Community gatherings were held to obtain feedback from communities on the impact of SIKA-West programming in Kushk Rabat-e Sangi District. Women in Rabat Sangi Sharqi village noted that the constructed flood protection wall safeguards the District Center Girls' High School from being flooded and now 1,247 students have a safe educational environment. The Gender Mainstreaming Unit handed over the Pusht-e Rod Female Komite Sobate Woleswali (KSW) to the District Governor on December 11th. The District Governor committed to take the lead and support the female KSW in Pusht-e Rod District after the SIKA-West program ends. SIKA-West programming has resulted in significant improvements in stability, government capacity, and district and provincial government performance. To date, 435 grant-funded projects valued at USD$9,776,497 have been identified and approved by MRRD and IDLG in the target districts. CDCs and DDAs are implementing 149 projects valued at USD$4,520,557. A total of 236 projects valued at USD$4,330,196 have been completed. Four projects valued at USD$194,081 are pending with the Vetting Unit for approval.
