Abstract
The Agency for International Development led in supporting the program via a $10 million loan in 1964 and an $8.5 million loan in 1969. By 1972 about 50,000 families, a small portion of small farmers, had benefited. "The use of Incora Credit Program in Colombia by 1969" by Dana Dalrymple, contains statistical information about the use of credit by 2,900 farmers in 1969. "Small Farmer Credit Activities of the Colombian Agricultural Bank" by Ronald L. Tinnermeir describes the most commonly accessible financial institution for rural Colombians, the Caja Agraria with 680 banking branches, 13 input distribution centers, and 433 farm supply stores. The Caja provides credit principally to farmers, cattlemen and small industry for purchase of machinery, supplies, rural housing, and development of farmer cooperatives.
