Abstract
Initial sections present demographic data on ethnicity, age, heads of households, wives, and population growth rate and describe traditional sociocultural attitudes towards elders, women, and health and nutrition. Data on animal husbandry and cattle migration are presented next, followed by results of an agro-econonomic survey of agricultural households farm size, farm labor, nonagricultural activities, agricultural tools and equipment, livestock, crop cultivation, harvesting methods, and yields. It is noted that sorghum is the dominant crop in both provinces, with millet and yams following in popularity. Data on annual household income, expenditure, and food consumption conclude the report. Appended is an outline of the 55 individual studies (by district) which the present report summarizes; 2 tables and 6 figures are included in the text.
