Sign inACADEMY FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, INC. (AED)
This strategic framework for USAID"s HIV/AIDs program in Africa identifies and prioritizes areas in which knowledge gaps and research and information needs exist, based on deliberations during a USAID workshop in Marrakech, Morocco.
1995

Abstract
Seven priority areas emerged: information, education, and communication; integration of HIV/AIDS services within broader health delivery programs; policy research (assessing the impact of HIV/AIDS on sectors other than health); HIV counseling and testing; strengthening sexually transmitted infection services; program monitoring and evaluation; and programs for adolescents. The report discusses each area in terms of three questions: why is the issue important? what is being done? what remains to be addressed? Annex A addresses other critical research and information areas: condom use; program targeting; women and HIV/AIDS; safe blood supply; care of and support for AIDS patients; and tuberculosis.
