2016 · 1 pages

Abstract
The proposed improvements involve widening the existing offsite channel from 7.5 feet to 20 feet wide and replacing the earthen base with a mortared stone lining to increase drainage capacity. The updated plans provide a detailed design for the proposed channel crossing and clarify the scope of work. The proposed improvements will increase the capacity of the channel from 110 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 630 cfs, a 5.7 times increase over the existing capacity. Additionally, the plans call for the replacement of culverts under Route 6 with two 3x9 box culverts, increasing the capacity from approximately 290 cfs to 760 cfs. The existing bridge structure over the channel will also be removed and replaced due to its narrower width compared to the proposed channels. The construction documents assume that USAID will obtain all necessary approvals from landowners, public or private, for access to these properties prior to the contractor starting work. The plans include detailed specifications for the offsite drainage channel improvements, including the removal and replacement of the existing bridge structure. The EKAM Offsite Drainage Channel Improvements are a critical component of the EKAM Settlement Upgrade project. The proposed improvements will provide enhanced flooding relief for the housing development and support the overall goal of improving living conditions for residents. The updated plans provide a comprehensive design for the offsite channel improvements, including the widening of the channel, replacement of culverts, and removal and replacement of the existing bridge structure. The construction documents include detailed specifications and bid forms for the offsite drainage channel improvements. The plans are provided in both PDF and Excel format for ease of use. The EKAM Offsite Drainage Channel Improvements will play a crucial role in supporting the overall development of the EKAM housing project and improving the quality of life for residents.
