Abstract
Joint A.I.D./NUL evaluation covers the period 6/80-5/81 and is based in part on an attached NUL evaluation (XD-AAJ-415-A). The NUL has established an MBA program having a durable institutional relationship with the Wharton Business School, which provides visiting faculty to give the MBA program high quality and an international character. Adequate top management training is provided by Portuguese businessmen and the Government of Portugal. The number and quality of students is satisfactory and the physical facilities are adequate, although more classroom space will be needed. The computer laboratory is installed and equipped, and NUL has purchased books and periodicals for the library. The Ministry of Education and the business community have provided financial support. Although A.I.D. funding is limited and will terminate in 1983, future support is expected from funds generated by an expanded Executive Seminar program. The most pressing problem is to obtain enough Portuguese faculty to replace A.I.D.-financed foreign professors.
