The primary objective of the study is to identify and list home community-based care programmes (HCBCs) in four districts of four provinces in Phase I (Nelson Mandela Metropole in the Eastern Cape, Ugu in Kwa Zulu-Natal, Sekhukhune in Limpopo and Ehlanzeni in Mpumalanga) and then in Phase II to evaluate costs of HCBCs from a random selection of two CBO (community-based organizations) and 2 NGO (non-governmental organizations) models identified in Phase I in each district.

Abstract
The secondary objective is to identify measurable process indicators and highlight factors in HCBCs that promote and hamper responses. In total 13 HCBCs are evaluated in three districts, the Nelson Mandela Metropole, Ugu and Sekhukhune. (Author abstract, modified)
