Turkey : FY 1988 program cash transfer

The grant, to be provided in a single tranche, will be used, in order of preference, to: (1) purchase raw materials, capital goods, essential consumer goods, and services from the United Staes; (2) service the official, non-military debt owed to the U.S. Government; and (3) service the debt owed to multilateral organizations, including the IMF. Other uses may be agreed upon as well. Because of Turkey"s successful economic reform program and its status as a NATO ally, A.I.D. will not require that an equivalent amount of local currency be set aside for development programming.
