Abstract
security supporting assistance program for Egypt. The report, prepared in accordance with Section 9 of the International Security Assistance Act of 1977, points out the significant degree to which U.S. political and economic objectives in Egypt are interrelated, and asserts that adequate living standards and tangible economic progress are crucial to maintaining popular support for the Sadat government"s peace policies. At the request of the United States Congress, the emphasis of the report is on aid to Egyptian small businesses. Industrial and agricultural needs are also considered. Major issues related to improving the quality of life are outlined, and proposed U.S. assistance projects for FY 1979 are summarized.
