Abstract

contribution of this regional effort to arrest and reverse the process of desertification in sub-Sahara Africa. The objective of the Club is to undertake long-range planning and programming for increasing the region"s agricultural productivity while maintaining an ecological balance. AID field commissions have formulated projects designed to address the problems of deforestation, firewood shortages, and the general deterioration of the Sahel"s natural resource base. Reviews project-by-project current and proposed AID program forestry and ecology. Also describes some activities of the Peace Corps and U.S. private volunary organizations.
