2011 · 2 pages

Abstract
The program was launched in 2011 with a focus on Eastern Province, where soil degradation and limited market access were identified as primary challenges. More than 2,500 farmers received training in sustainable agriculture techniques, including composting, crop rotation, and irrigation methods. The program's focus on empowering women was a key factor in its success, as women played a crucial role in implementing and maintaining sustainable agriculture practices. This significant increase in income was attributed to the program's ability to improve crop yields, increase market access, and enhance the overall livelihoods of rural communities. The program's success was also reflected in the improved nutritional status of community members, with a significant reduction in malnutrition rates among children and pregnant women. The program's geographic focus was on Eastern Province, where the majority of Rwanda's rural population resides. The program's implementation was carried out in collaboration with local government authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders. The program's timeframes were set to ensure that the interventions were implemented and evaluated within a reasonable timeframe, allowing for adjustments and improvements to be made as needed.
