Abstract
The project was implemented by Tetra Tech DPK under contract AID-165-C-12-00001, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project's objective was to strengthen advocacy and citizen participation in judicial sector reform. The project focused on three key organizations: the Macedonian Judges Association (MJA), the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (MYLA), and the Court Administration Association (CAA). These organizations were selected for capacity building and sustainability training with the sub-contractor, Embra. The training program included workshops and trainings on advocacy and lobbying, project planning and design, and project cycle management. The MJA was targeted for capacity and sustainability training, with a focus on advocacy and lobbying, project planning and design, and project cycle management. The CAA, a relatively new organization with approximately 1,200 court employee members, was also selected for capacity building and sustainability training. The MYLA, a legal professional association that provides continuing legal education for young lawyers, was another organization targeted for capacity and sustainability training. The project also provided grant assistance to legal professional associations (LPAs) and civil society organizations (CSOs). A full and open competition process for grants was announced by ERSTE, a foundation dedicated to social integration. The JSP notified NGOs/CSOs within the judicial sector about the grants announcement and offered assistance in reviewing and recommending a course of action for the grant application process. The project's implementation was ongoing, with the first series of trainings and workshops scheduled to begin in October 2012. The project's activities were designed to enhance the capacity of the selected organizations and promote advocacy and citizen participation in judicial sector reform. The project's progress was monitored and evaluated to ensure that its objectives were met. The project's geographic focus was on Macedonia, with a specific emphasis on strengthening the judicial sector and promoting advocacy and citizen participation. The project's timeframes were from May 2012 to October 2013, with a focus on implementing the project's activities and achieving its objectives within this timeframe. The project's recommendations were based on the project's findings and were designed to promote the project's objectives and ensure its sustainability. The project's implementation was facilitated by the JSP staff, who worked closely with the sub-contractor, Embra, to develop and implement the project's activities. The project's progress was monitored and evaluated to ensure that its objectives were met, and the project's recommendations were based on the project's findings. The project's activities were designed to promote advocacy and citizen participation in judicial sector reform and to enhance the capacity of the selected organizations.
