Abstract
The activity aims to provide academic and personal support to students from Egypt, with a focus on developing their leadership skills and preparing them for the workforce. The program is designed to run from March 1, 2020, to February 28, 2030. The activity is divided into several tasks, each with specific objectives and outcomes. Task 0 focuses on program start-up and management, including the recruitment of highly qualified staff and coordination meetings with USAID stakeholders. Task 1 provides academic and personal support to students, including financial and material support, as well as academic monitoring and student support services. Task 2 focuses on English language training and cultural experiences, including IELTS testing, supplemental English language programs, and online pre-academic programs. Task 3 provides psychological advising and student well-being workshops to support the mental health and well-being of students. Task 4 develops leadership skills through experiential training workshops, while Task 5 provides job placement and networking opportunities for students. Task 6 offers internship opportunities to students, while Task 7 provides entrepreneurship training through social entrepreneurship interventions and an annual entrepreneurship summit. Task 8 facilitates study abroad opportunities for students, including travel logistical arrangements and pre-departure orientation. Task 9 focuses on outreach, recruitment, and selection for Cohort 5, including the design and development of online applications and outreach materials. Task 10 involves onboarding Cohort 5 students, while Task 11 focuses on monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, including the submission of an annual work plan and the implementation of the USAID Scholars MEL System. The activity aims to support the development of future leaders in Egypt and promote economic growth and stability in the region. The activity has made significant progress in its first four years, with over 2,500 students supported through various programs and activities. The program has also established partnerships with several universities and organizations to provide students with opportunities for internships, study abroad, and entrepreneurship training. The activity continues to work towards its objectives, with a focus on supporting the development of future leaders in Egypt.
