Abstract
The Government Pakistan announced ‘a Strategy to Help Mitigate the Socioeconomic Impacts of Covid-19 on Pakistan’s Tourism Sector’ in 2020. This study, commissioned by the USAID funded Small and Medium Enteprise Activity being implemented by Chemonics International, compliments and supports this strategy by providing additional new insight gained from extensive interviews with the public and private sectors in Pakistan and the UNWTO, WTTC and PATA as well as a consideration of international best practice aligned to the identified strategic challenges. A suggested framework for tourism in Pakistan is included. 40 tourism experts in Pakistan from the public and private sector reviewed and endorsed the 10 conclusions and recommendations in this report during an online “Tourism Experts Workshop” in Pakistan in September 2021.
