USAID/Tanzania : Channelling men"s positive involvement in a national HIV response project (CHAMPION) : end of project evaluation

President"s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The goal of CHAMPION is to promote a national dialogue about men"s roles and to promote gender equity so as to reduce vulnerability to HIV and other adverse reproductive health (RH) outcomes. The concept of men as facilitators of family health is central to the project. CHAMPION has five overarching objectives: (1) promote partner reduction and fidelity, and reduce high-risk behaviors; (2) create an environment that promotes positive social norms including fidelity, non-violence, and respect for healthy relationships; (3) promote positive health-seeking behavior and men"s participation in clinical health services (4) mobilize workplace environments to advance gender equity and constructive male engagement in HIV prevention and RH promotion; and (5) develop strategies for strengthening national, regional, and district laws and policies to engage men in HIV prevention and reduce the risk to both men and women.
