This primer"s objective is to provide USG program designers with a basic technical understanding of value chain finance (VCF) and how to design approaches to increase access to financial services that promote value chain competitiveness.

Abstract

This primer defines VCF, and describes how finance can be an enabler within the value chain framework; it is based on a review and analysis of existing literature and resources, lessons learned, trends, and approaches, including approaches used to implement USAID and non-USAID programs.
