Abstract
Topics include: (1) development of WARDA"s information retrieval and dissemination services for rice scientists in West Africa; (2) design and construction of WARDA"s main research center and headquarters at M"be; (3) low-input rice crop management in rainfed uplands; (4) environmental and genetic factors governing crop duration in the Sahel; (5) WARDA"s role in the inter-IARC effort to characterize Pyricularia oryzae populations; (6) progress in regional collaboration towards rice improvement for the mangrove swamp environment following the 1990 conversion of WARDA"s mangrove research activities into a network-based structure; and (7) diffusion, adoption, and economic impact of improved mangrove swamp varieties in West Africa.
