Abstract
Surveys in lowland rice fields have identified about 120 weed species belonging to 32 families, and there are estimates that weeds reduce crop yields by about 25% to 30%, while weed control accounts for nearly one-third of production costs. Due to the extent of this problem, a thorough knowledge of previous research is essential for designing future weed management programs. Citations include research publications on general aspects of weed control, weed control in various crops (rice, upland crops, tea, rubber, and coconut), biological weed control, herbicides, and special weed problems, each with a full abstract. Includes author and subject indexes.
