Abstract
It aims to assess debt transparency in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and provides a new tool, the Debt Transparency Scorecard (DTS), to evaluate how well LMIC governments report on public debt to their citizens. The report highlights the growing debt burden in LMICs, the lack of debt transparency, and the need for improvement. It also emphasizes the importance of debt transparency for fiscal sustainability, democratic accountability, and economic sovereignty.
