This study examines the effectiveness of fact-checking corrections in reducing misinformation in the context of the 2018 Brazilian elections.

Abstract
It finds that fact-checking corrections are ineffective in reducing misinformation, even among non-partisans and when they confirm political predispositions. The study suggests that partisan-motivated reasoning is not the main driving force behind the ineffectiveness of corrections, and that correcting political misinformation in developing democracies might be more difficult than thought.
