Technical Note on Standards and Key Performance Indicators for Sanitation
The technical note, developed by USAID Safe Water, includes a review of the regulation of the sanitation service chain in other countries (i.e., from household toilet standards to wastewater and fecal sludge management), maps the sanitation elements to be regulated and offers approaches to sanitation regulation including the setting of sanitation standards and identification of key performance indicators (KPIs).

Abstract
It also looks at the Philippines’ sanitation regulatory environment to assess gaps and strengthen subsector coordination to improve accountability and performance of institutional mandates. The findings and recommendations are intended to inform sanitation regulation and provide guidance to strengthen coordination and monitoring of sanitation initiatives that contribute to the country’s water security agenda.
