Abstract
The COVID-19 crisis and its long-term impacts on financial sustainability of the WASH sector in emerging economies: Whilst the shorter-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on WASH infrastructure and functioning are rightly receiving attention, the longer-term impacts on the financial sustainability of WASH infrastructure are equally serious, and may persist long after the immediate threat of the pandemic has receded. By taking into account the longer term financial impacts of the pandemic, threats to WASH infrastructure and to the gains made towards SDG6 can be lowered.
