USAID’s Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability (Be Secure) Project in the Philippines, awarded in July 2013, was a four-year activity that worked to promote good governance and build capacity for long-term water security, improve access to water and wastewater treatment services, and build more resilient communities.

Abstract
Be Secure focused on achieving two intermediate results: Increased sustainable access to water supply and wastewater treatment services; and Increased resilience to climate-related water stress and hydrological extremes. Be Secure worked at the national level and in six geographic sites, namely the provinces of Iloilo, Leyte, Misamis Oriental, Maguindanao, Basilan, and the city of Zamboanga. From November 2014 to May 2015, the Province of Basilan was engaged in capacity-building activities, including increasing the capacity of water service providers and improving capacity for long-term water resources service delivery.
