SHOPS PROJECT
The document is a research report titled Reaching the Urban Poor and Middle Class in Kenya with Quality Care by the SHOPS Project.
2014

Abstract
It presents the findings of a process evaluation of LiveWell Health Clinics in Kenya, which aimed to provide affordable quality health services to the urban poor and middle-class populations. The report highlights the clinic's model, which focuses on quality and efficiency, and its ability to attract middle-income households while serving many poorer clients. It also discusses the clinic's cost recovery, client volume growth, and quality of care. The report concludes that the LiveWell model demonstrates that a private clinic can provide high-quality services that are affordable to low- and middle-income urban households by focusing on efficient operations and identifying effective demand generation strategies.
