Abstract
The report presents the findings and results of a primary research study on gender-based violence (GBV) in Nigeria, specifically in Ebonyi and Sokoto states. The study aimed to identify the behaviors of local leaders that would increase their engagement in preventing and mitigating intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and child and early forced marriage. The report provides an executive summary, study participants, focus of the study, key findings, and conclusions. The key findings highlight the deep-rooted traditional values that enable GBV, the role of traditional and religious leaders in perpetuating GBV, the lack of commitment from public officials to counter GBV, and the difficulties in collaboration to tackle GBV in Nigeria.
