Abstract
The brief describes a hybrid training program implemented in South Sudan to build the capacity of health workers in essential newborn care (ENC) and newborn resuscitation. The program used a blended learning approach, combining virtual and in-person training, to overcome infrastructure challenges and ensure a uniform understanding of standardized ENC skills. The training was designed to strengthen health system resilience by promoting absorptive, adaptive, and transformative capacities among health workers. The brief highlights the importance of context-aware training approaches, the need for creative solutions to overcome infrastructure challenges, and the value of partnerships in building health worker capacity in fragile settings.
