MOMENTUM COUNTRY AND GLOBAL LEADERSHIP
The document is a technical brief on a social norms exploration of child, early, and forced marriage, intimate partner violence, and early adoption of family planning in Ebonyi and Sokoto states, Nigeria.
2024

Abstract
The brief presents the findings of a study that aimed to understand the social norms driving these behaviors and identify key reference groups that influence them. The study used a participatory learning and action tool called the Social Norms Exploration Tool (SNET) to gather data from adolescents, youth, and reference groups in both states. The findings highlight the importance of engaging parents, family members, and community leaders in norm-shifting interventions to address child, early, and forced marriage and intimate partner violence. The brief also recommends employing curriculum-based participatory small group reflection and dialogue approaches to promote positive attitudes, behaviors, and norms related to adolescent reproductive health and gender equality.
