Abstract
The study, called the Rang-Din Nutrition Study (RDNS), evaluates the effectiveness of home fortification approaches in preventing maternal and child undernutrition during the first 1000 days in rural Bangladesh. The study involved four arms: lipid-based nutrient supplements (LNS) for mothers and children, IFA for mothers and LNS for children, IFA for mothers and micronutrient powder (MNP) for children, and IFA for mothers with no supplements for children. The results show that home fortification with LNS or MNP had a positive effect on motor and language development in Bangladeshi children.
