IYCN
This document is a brief report on a study sponsored by the Infant & Young Child Nutrition (IYCN) Project in Peru, which aimed to validate indicators for responsive feeding by comparing mothers' observed feeding behaviors with their recall of these behaviors.
2011

Abstract
The study developed a list of 25 responsive feeding behaviors and assessed mothers' recall of them through interviews and observations. The results showed that mothers' recall of specific actions to refocus their children's attention, verbalization, and feeding setting agreed closely with observations. The study identified several promising indicators for assessing responsive feeding behaviors, including feeding setting, use of feeding utensils, and specific interactions between mother and child. These indicators can be useful for large-scale surveys to assess responsive feeding practices.
